The Utah Celery ( Apium graveolens var. Dulce ) is an open pollinated, heirloom, Non GMO variety originally from the Mediterranean and has been grown since 1953. Utah Celery is a stringless variety with great taste, nice thick crispy stalks, and a tightly folded heart, it is a popular choice for its reliability and its resistance to disease. Every part of celery can be eaten, and they are packed with nutrition & health benefits. It is high in vitamins A, B, D & K, folate, magnesium, phosphorus. calcium, potassium, riboflavin, and manganese. Celery is also a good source of dietary fibre and is low in saturated fats and cholesterol. Growth Utah Celery is a biennial herbaceous plant that grows to approximately 60-75 cm’s in height. They prefer nutrient rich, well composted soil. For best growth fertilise well and the soil keep moist. Celery has a shallow root system so keeping the soil moist is important. We always recommend growing your food organically, so when fertilising or trying to keep pests under control, keep in mind that there are always organic options. Your body and family will thank you! To do this cut your celery to the desired size, boil some water and blanch for 3 minutes, then dry them off and freeze.
