Description Fiddle Leaf Fig (Ficus lyrata) is a gorgeous houseplant but can be a bit fussy! Here’s a solid care guide to keep yours happy and thriving: Light Bright, indirect light is ideal. Near a sunny window is perfect, but avoid direct sun on the leaves as it can burn them. Rotate the plant every couple of weeks to keep growth even. Watering Water when the top 2–3 inches of soil are dry. Stick your finger in the soil to check—don’t go by a set schedule. Ensure the pot has good drainage. Overwatering is the most common killer! ️ Temperature & Humidity Loves temps between 60–75°F (16–24°C). Avoid cold drafts or sudden temp changes. Higher humidity is a plus—consider misting or using a humidifier if your home is dry. Soil Use a well-draining potting mix, like one for indoor tropical plants. You can mix in perlite or orchid bark for better drainage. Repotting Repot every 1–2 years or when it’s root-bound. Go up just 1 pot size to avoid overwhelming the roots. ✂️ Pruning & Cleaning Wipe the leaves occasionally to remove dust (they breathe through them!). Prune to shape or to encourage bushier growth. Remove any damaged or dying leaves. Pests Watch out for spider mites, mealybugs, and scale. Neem oil or insecticidal soap can help if you see issues. Bonus Tips Fertilize in spring and summer monthly with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer. Don’t move it around too much—fiddle leaf figs hate change!
